What are your thoughts of “phenomenon teaching” or as some may call it "teaching by topic?"  Finland is reforming its educational system.  As we in the States are focusing our attention on the Common Core they are moving toward teaching by topic.  This is their push to reach student population and prepare them for a modern society. Should we look towards Finland and learn from this model or should we step back and wait to see if their vision comes to fruition in 2020.  Remember Finland ranks higher than us in reading and math. What are we doing to keep up with the world? According to PISA 2009 results we still lag far behind other countries education, so what are you doing at your school to make a difference?
